Elisabeth von der Pfalz (born November 16, 1483 in Heidelberg ; † June 24, 1522 in Baden-Baden ) from the Wittelsbach family , belonged to the Palatine line and was successively Landgravine of Hessen-Marburg and Margravine of Baden through marriage .

Life

Elisabeth was a daughter of Elector Philipp von der Pfalz (1448–1508) from his marriage to Margarete (1456–1501), daughter of Duke Ludwig IX. from Bavaria-Landshut .

Her first marriage was on February 12, 1496 in Heidelberg, Landgrave Wilhelm III. of Hessen-Marburg (1471–1500). The supplement took place in Frankfurt am Main in 1498 . The marriage bound Wilhelm III. closer to the Electoral Palatinate house, while Wilhelm's Kassel cousins ​​were considered partisans of the emperor . In a contract concluded in 1508 regarding Elisabeth's dowry, it was determined that the Electoral Palatinate ceded the parts of the County of Sponheim acquired by Baden in 1463 back to Baden.

Elisabeth was buried in the collegiate church in Baden-Baden .
