Maria Manuela Danci (born December 7, 1989 in Câmpina ) is a Romanian natural track tobogganist . She has been competing in the World Cup as well as in World and European Championships since the 2009/2010 season and became Romanian champion in singles and team competitions in 2010 and 2011 .

Career

Maria Manuela Danci was initially active on the artificial track and achieved, for example, third place at the Romanian Championships in 2007 on the artificial ice rink at Königssee . Since the 2009/2010 season , Danci has been the only Romanian to take part in natural track luge competitions. She contested her first World Cup race on January 10, 2010 in Umhausen , but just like in the other three World Cup races of the winter, she was only the last to cross the finish line. In the overall ranking she came 15th out of a total of 25 female tobogganists who won World Cup points this winter. Danci also started in the Intercontinental Cup from January 2010, but also only achieved placements in the bottom field. Even at the 2010 European Championships in St. Sebastian , she did not achieve an attractive result. She consistently lost time in every race and finally crossed the finish line, over two minutes behind, as the last of the 17 starters. In March 2010 she became the first Romanian champion in natural track luge in a single seater . Together with Cosmin Codin , she also won the team competition.

In the 2010/2011 season , Danci only took part in the two World Cup races before the World Championship at the end of January. In Gsies she finished 15th, which means she was not last - but penultimate - in a World Cup race for the first time. In Kindberg she was also 15th, but this time again as the last. In the overall World Cup she came in 18th out of a total of 19 female luge athletes with World Cup points. At the 2011 World Cup in Umhausen , she was the last to cross the finish line. With a gap of 35 seconds - significantly less than at the European Championship last year - she finished 18th. As in 2010, she was also Romanian champion in 2011 in the singles and with Cosmin Codin in the team competition. In the 2011/2012 season, Danci did not take part in any international competitions.
