Maria Raiser

Maria Raiser , b. Fetzer (born November 10, 1885 in Stuttgart ; † February 25, 1966 there ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life

Maria Raiser was born the daughter of a businessman. After visiting the Royal Katharinenstift in Stuttgart , she worked for the Württemberg Medical Association during the First World War . Then she joined the evangelical women's movement. From 1919 to 1933 she was deputy chairwoman of the women's department of the Evangelical People's Union in Württemberg and in 1928 she was also chairwoman of the working group of Evangelical housewives . From 1927 to 1954, with a brief interruption, she was a member of the regional church congress of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg and from 1935 to 1961 first chairwoman of the “women's work”. From 1935 to 1955 she was a member of the Evangelical Regional Synod of Württemberg and until 1945 she was the only woman on its advisory board, which was headed by Regional Bishop Theophil Wurm at that time . In 1943 she became a partner in the chemicals trading company August Hedinger KG and its subsidiary Raiser & Hebel KG, both based in Stuttgart.

Since 1946 Raiser was again a member of the board of the women's department of the Evangelical People's Union in Württemberg. She was also involved in the Evangelical Women's Aid and in 1948/49 was a member of the Presidium of the Swedish Feeding (“Hoover Feeding”) in Württemberg-Baden . After joining the CDU, she was a member of the state constitutional assembly from January to November 1946 and then until 1952 a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden for the constituency of Stuttgart . From 1952 to 1953 she was a member of the constituent state assembly for Baden-Württemberg and from 1953 to 1956 a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Within the CDU, Raiser also devoted himself to women's work. From 1948 to 1959 she was chairwoman of the regional women's committee of the CDU North Württemberg and from 1950 to 1963 a member of the CDU federal committee. In 1959 she was elected chairwoman of the CDU regional association of women in North Württemberg.

Maria Raiser was married to the Stuttgart merchant Louis Paul Emil Raiser (1875–1943) since 1906. The marriage produced a son.
