Maria Seifert (born May 15, 1991 in Erfurt , Thuringia ) is a German athlete in the T37 starting class who specializes in short sprints . It also runs in the season .

career path

Maria Seifert is a nanny in a kindergarten in Erfurt.

Athletic career

Seifert came to sport through her teacher in the physically challenged school in Erfurt, because she could run “pretty fast”.

At the age of 17, she won bronze at the Paralympics in Beijing in the 100 and 200 meters. Many championship and runner-up titles not only at World and European Championships and places in the top eight followed, including bronze over 200 meters at the Paralympics in London .

In 2016 Seifert competed in her third Paralympics and came in 4th as a member of the 4 x 100 meter relay .

Maria Seifert is at HSC Erfurt . She competes in the starting class T37 (athlete with hemiparesis - which she has on the right).

Honors

In 2008 and 2012 she was awarded the “Silver Laurel Leaf” by the Federal President .

At the Thuringian Sports Ball of the Landessportbund Thuringia and the Thuringian Sporthilfe Foundation , Maria Seifert was named “Thuringian Disabled Athlete of the Year 2012”.
