Marian Czura
Marian Manfred Theodor Czura (* 1949) is a Polish-German filmmaker , director , screenwriter , cameraman and painter . He lives in Darmstadt .
biography
Marian Czura was born in Groszowice near Opole in Upper Silesia . There he then studied psychology, philosophy and theology in Neisse, Opole and Warsaw.
After leaving the People's Republic of Poland, he studied painting at the Frankfurt Städel and the Amsterdam School of Art. At the same time, he began to be more interested in film art and made his first films. He was the initiator and co-founder of the Frankfurt film workshop.
From 1980 until it broke up, he worked with the Westallgäuer Filmproduktion (WAF), in particular with Leo Hiemer . A productive artistic collaboration connects him to this day. Particularly noteworthy are:
- the regional film Daheim die Leut ' , 1985, which deals critically and satirically with the rural milieu of the Allgäu .
- The time was beautiful in 1988, about the National Socialist film policy and the cinema business in the following 50s, among others with Ottfried Fischer and the Pole Ewa Błaszczyk .
- Leni… muss go , 1996, a heartfelt drama heaped with prizes, the (true) fate of a Jewish girl who was housed by her mother with an elderly couple on an Allgäu farm and from there deported to Auschwitz.
- Come on we dream! , 2004, about the difficult love between a community service worker and a young girl in a workshop for the disabled, based on the novel "Ulrike" by Volker Jehle .
Documentaries
In Booty Comrades (2002-2003) he dealt with the fate of Polish soldiers in the Wehrmacht. He danced life (2003) portrays the life of the flamenco dancer and resistance fighter Sylvin Rubinstein in a sensitive and understanding way . The filmmaker described the work on this work as his "most difficult film because it required such a deep look into the human soul" .
In the years 2006–2007 the film documentary Klang der Seele was created about four young composers, which premiered on November 18, 2007 in Darmstadt. Prof. Klaus Trapp wrote in Darmstadt Echo : ". The recorded with great applause film would have deserved to be shown in other places," In connection with the nationwide coming only in July 2009 in the cinema film, there was distancing declarations on the part of two Participant as well as too mixed criticism from the media, since the nationwide film launch took place without further consent from Eisenach and Bornheimer. But there was also positive press coverage.
Teaching
From 1979 to 1982 Czura was a lecturer at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (dffb) . He leads film seminars at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main (1998–2002) and IFFMA Munich (2005-).
