Marianna Mykolaivna Laba ( Ukrainian Маріанна Миколаївна Лаба; born  September 7, 1968 in Serebrjanyje Prudy , Moscow Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a Ukrainian soprano . She is solo singer with the Lviv Philharmonic and at the Lviv House of Organ and Chamber Music. Laba is an Honored Artist of Ukraine.

She comes from a family of professional musicians. Marianna's father, who comes from Chernivtsi Oblast , was the director of a music school. Her mother, who is from Hungary , sang in the choir that her father led. The family later moved back to the Transcarpathian city ​​of Khust, Ukraine .

Marianna began making music at the age of four, learning to play the violin and piano . From 1983 to 1987 she studied at the Uzhgorod State Music School in the violin class and graduated with honors as an orchestral musician and music teacher . From 1987 to 1995 she studied at the Lviv Lysenko Music Academy in the class for opera and chamber singing. Since 1996 she has been solo singer with the Lviv Philharmonic and since 2002 with the Lviv House of Organ and Chamber Music.

She lives and works in Lviv and has a son.

Musical career

During her studies she gave guest performances as a soloist with the ensembles “Krynytsja” and “Excelsior” in Austria , Germany and Canada .

When she was still a student of the Lemberg Philharmonic, she took part in the “Bayreuth Youth Festival Meeting ” in Bayreuth from 1992 to 1994 , and in 1998 she took part in the “Kammeroper Göttingen” festival ( Germany ).

She represented the Ukraine at numerous festivals in Poland, Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic , Hungary , France , Portugal , and Belarus .

In 2006 she took part in a major tour with the symphony orchestra "K&K Philharmoniker" through various European countries. In 2008 and 2009 she went on a guest tour with the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic under the direction of Aydar Toribaev with the program "Gala Strauss".

Her repertoire includes numerous programs with organ accompaniment, works by Antonio Vivaldi , Johann Sebastian Bach , Georg Friedrich Händel , Alessandro Scarlatti , Domenico Scarlatti , Giovanni Paisiello , Giovanni Battista Pergolesi , Alessandro Stradella , Domenico Cimarosa , Francesko Paolo Tosti and others

She worked with the following conductors: Jerzy Kossak (Poland), Wojtek Mrozek (Poland), Dieter Wagner (Germany), Matthias Kendlinger (Austria), Gungard Mattes (Switzerland), Yuriy Luciw , Serhiy Burko , Volodymyr Syvokhip , Gennady Fiskov , Roman Filipchuk , Myron Yusypovych (Ukraine) and Aydar Toribaev (Kazakhstan).

Lab is also a soloist in the ancient music ensemble “Lvivs'ki Menestreli” (“Lviv Menestrels”).

She is a participant in the Ukrainian-Polish project under the auspices of the Polish President to perform the oratorio of Mieczysław Sołty's “Vows of Jan Kazimierz” ( Śluby Jana Kazimierza ) and introduced Ukraine as an artist in the embassies of Canada and Belarus.

Since 2007 she has also been the singer of the Lviv Gothic Metal band “Polynove Pole” (“Wermutsfeld”).
