Marianne Wildi (2016)

Marianne Wildi (born April 19, 1965 in Meisterschwanden ) is a Swiss bank manager and fintech pioneer. She is the chairman of the management team at Hypothekarbank Lenzburg .

Origin and career

Wildi grew up in Schafisheim as the daughter of a carpenter and a French teacher. In 1991 she began studying business administration at the University of Applied Sciences in Zurich and in 1995 obtained a degree in business administration from the FH (at that time still HWV). In 2000 she obtained the federal diploma for banking experts, which she supplemented in 2003 with an Advanced Executive Program at the Swiss Banking School. In 2009 and 2013, she rounded off her professional development with courses in corporate management at the Executive School of Management, Technology and Law at the University of St. Gallen (Essentials of Management) and at the Association of Swiss Courses for Corporate Management SKU (Advanced Management Diploma).

After graduating from the old canton school in Aarau , she joined Hypothekarbank Lenzburg in 1984, where she gained her first professional experience in the IT team. Wildi started out as a programmer. As part of IT development, she took on special orders and projects at Hypothekarbank Lenzburg and third-party banks from 1995. From 2001 to 2006 Wildi advanced to the position of deputy head of IT. From 2007 to 2017 she was a member of the management team for Services, IT and Logistics. In 2010, Wildi was also appointed CEO of Hypi. Under the leadership of Wildi, the bank invested more and more in technical innovations, which in 2016 earned it the “most digital bank in Switzerland” award from the “Finews” industry platform.

Hypothekarbank Lenzburg developed under Wildi's leadership into a bank that attracted attention with its open banking strategy. Wildi's vision is to "build up an entire ecosystem" with Finstar. She is convinced that open platforms will become increasingly important in banking in the future.

In 2017, Wildi had the company's own Finstar banking software equipped with open interfaces - so-called Open- APIs . Since then, various fintech companies and other service providers have docked with Finstar after a prior check by Hypothekarbank Lenzburg and can exchange data with the banking system. With this, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg created the first open banking platform in Switzerland under the leadership of Marianne Wildi. At the end of 2017, the bank received the “Euro Finance Tech Award” for this.

Wildi also demonstrated her affinity for digital money issues with the demand for a crypto- franc: “Switzerland is a pioneer in blockchain technology. You should introduce a crypto franc and go ahead here ». Wildi's decision to offer blockchain and crypto companies based in Switzerland an account connection with Hypothekarbank Lenzburg caused a sensation far beyond the country's borders. In this context, Wildi also took part in the fintech roundtable discussions held by Federal Councilor Ueli Maurer , which among other things formed the basis for the “SBA guidelines for opening company accounts for blockchain companies” published in September 2018.

In 2016, Wildi was a founding member of Swiss Fintech Innovations , an association that aims to promote the exchange of business, science and politics and thus advance the digitization of the Swiss financial center. In addition, Wildi was a founding member of the Swiss Blockchain Federation , which was established in 2018 and is committed to maintaining and expanding the attractiveness and competitiveness of Switzerland as a blockchain location.

Wildi now lives in Meisterschwanden in the canton of Aargau.

Aargau Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Economiesuisse

In addition to her work at Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, Marianne Wildi is also committed to the economic development of the Canton of Aargau . Since June 2017 she has been President of the Aargau Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AIHK), the Aargau business association with more than 1,750 member companies. Previously, Wildi was Vice President of the AIHK.

She takes a liberal attitude. Excessive regulation harms the economy. Companies need freedom so that new things can arise, said Wildi at the AIHK general assembly on the occasion of her election as president. In addition, she spoke out in favor of a dialogue-based economic policy based on the interaction of people with diverse skills in networks and the intelligent use of technology.

Wildi himself is a master at networking. After her election as AIHK president, the «Aargauer Zeitung» described her as the «most influential woman in Aargau». The industry platform finews.ch even said that Wild would be more influential than Federal Councilor Doris Leuthard. And the “Bilanz” ranked Wildi among the 100 most important bankers in Switzerland in 2018 because she is one of the best networked women in the industry.

As AIHK president and representative of the Aargau economy, Wildi is also a board member of Economiesuisse , the largest business umbrella organization in Switzerland, to which, in addition to the cantonal chambers of commerce, more than 100 industry associations and numerous individual companies belong.

Association of Swiss Regional Banks and Swiss Bankers Association

In the wake of the great financial crisis of 2007 and 2008, legislators around the world and in Switzerland tightened the regulatory requirements for banks. Smaller banks were also targeted by the large international and national supervisory authorities such as so-called systemically important big banks.

In order to be able to better represent the interests of the small banks with the legislature and the supervisory authorities, 58 institutes joined forces in May 2018 to form the Association of Swiss Regional Banks. Marianne Wildi was elected Vice President.

As the chairman of the management of a regional bank, she knows from her own professional experience that the regulation for small banks, proportional to their size, often overshoots the target. "For a long time, the institutes were not treated with sufficient differentiation and too little differentiated according to size and risk exposure," says Wildi.

As a representative of the regional banks , Wildi was elected to the 20-member Board of Directors of the Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) in September 2018 . She is currently the only woman there.

Further engagements

Marianne Wildi plays music in her free time. She has a brass music conductor diploma and has completed methodical and didactic training to become a brass music teacher. She plays the trombone , E-flat horn and euphonium and is a member of the Hunzenschwil-Schafisheim Music Society.

As head of Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, Wildi is - like her predecessor - a member of the board of trustees and treasurer of the Lenzburg Castle Foundation in the executive chair of the banks, which are strongly anchored in the region . In addition, Wildi is also on the board of the Hammerschmiede Seengen association and a member of the administrative board of Parkhaus Seetalplatz AG.
