Uwe Alexander Becker (born May 6, 1963 in Lingen ) is a Brigadier General of the Army of the Bundeswehr and Deputy Chief of Staff Operations Allied Land Command of NATO in Izmir (Turkey).

Military career

Training and first uses

Promotions

Becker joined the German Armed Forces in 1982 as a candidate for officer in engineer battalion 11 in Dörverden , and received training as an officer in the engineer force. From 1983 to 1986 he completed a degree in education at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . It followed from 1987 to 1990 first assignments as platoon driver officer and civil engineering officer with the engineer battalion 3 in Stade . Then Becker was deployed from 1990 to 1991 as a reconnaissance officer in the tank pioneer company of the Franco-German Brigade in Donaueschingen and from 1991 to 1992 as company commander of the 4th / and 2nd / 7th Engineer Battalion in Höxter . From 1992 to 1995 he was employed as a training class leader at the Army NCO School I in Münster . From 1995 to 1997 Becker completed general staff training (38th general staff course in the army) at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg.

Service as a staff officer

The first employment as a general staff officer led Becker from 1997 to 1999 as staff officer G4 ( logistics ) to Panzergrenadierbrigade 30 in Ellwangen . From 1999 to 2000 he took part in the British General Staff training at the Joint Services Command and Staff College in Bracknell ( Great Britain ). From 2000 to 2002 Becker was employed as a staff officer with the Chief of Staff of the Army Command , Brigadier Generals Wolfgang Korte and Roland Kather , in Koblenz . From 2002 to 2003 he was employed in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Bonn , as Referent III 2 (conception and capability analysis) in the command staff of the army . From 2003 to 2005 Becker led the tank pioneer battalion 803 in Havelberg as commander. From 2005 to 2008 he was employed as deputy head of department (Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff) J5 ( Plans & Policy ) and Chief Plans Section and Corps Operational Planning Group at the 1st German-Dutch Corps in Münster. From 2008 to 2010 Becker was General Staff Officer G3 at the Defense Division III in Erfurt . From 2011 to 2012, there was another deployment of troops as commander of the Pioneer Regiment 100 in Minden . From 2012 to 2014 Becker was employed as Head of Central Affairs in the Army Command in Bonn, later in Strausberg . In September 2014 Becker took over the management of the Heer Combat Training Center in Letzlingen from Colonel Gunter Schneider, which he in turn handed over to Colonel Michael Knoke on August 24, 2018.

Service as a general

From August 28, 2018 to June 2019, Becker was appointed Brigadier General and Director of the NATO Advisory Liaison Team (NALT) in Kosovo . In this post he followed Brigadier General Ralf Hoffmann . In June 2019 he handed over this post to Brigadier General Michael Oberneyer in order to change himself as Deputy Chief of Staff Operations to the Allied Land Command of NATO in Izmir ( Turkey ).
