Career

society

Mariano Andújar started his career in the youth team of CA Huracán . In his first season 2002/03 he completed seven games for Huracán in the Primera División , but had to relegate to the Nacional B with the team at the end of the season . In the second highest Argentine league he managed to rise to the team's regular goalkeeper. For the 2005/06 season, the club loaned him to the Italian first division club US Palermo . At Palermo he initially remained one of the substitute goalkeepers. After two of his competitors were sold in January 2006, he established himself as a regular goalkeeper in the second half of the season. However, he lost his regular place after a few games and returned to Huracán after the loan ended. The goalkeeper left the club shortly afterwards and signed a contract with Estudiantes de La Plata .

Andújar quickly became a regular at Estudiantes and won his first title in 2006 with the Apertura . As a result, he qualified with the team for the Copa Libertadores 2009 . From the fourth group game until the second leg of the semi-finals, he stayed without a goal for 800 minutes, surpassing Hugo Gatti's record . In the final, they met Brazilian club Cruzeiro EC , against whom they won the title after a 0-0 first leg at home (and thus in all seven home games without conceding), away with a 2-1 win.

On June 24, 2009, the Italian Serie A club Catania Calcio announced the goalkeeper's commitment. The Argentine signed a 4-year contract with the Sicilian club. Andújar prevailed after a short time against his rivals Tomáš Košický and Andrea Campagnolo and has been the goalkeeper of Catania ever since.

On January 28, 2014 Andújar signed a contract with SSC Napoli . However, he ended the season on loan at Catania and joined his new team for the new 2014/15 season . In September 2015 it was awarded to Estudiantes.

National team

Andújar made his debut on June 6, 2009 in the 1-0 victory over Colombia for the Argentine national team. He was appointed by national coach Diego Maradona for the following qualifying games for the 2010 World Cup and used in three other games. In fourth place in the CONMEBOL zone, Andújar qualified with the Argentines for the 2010 World Cup . However, he was not used there.
