Marie-Luise Hilger

Marie-Luise Hilger (* August 17, 1912 - December 25, 1996 ) was a German lawyer and presiding judge at the Federal Labor Court .

Life

Marie-Luise Hilger spent her childhood and school time in Bremen and Heidelberg . After taking the second state examination , she was a university assistant at Siebert in Kiel and Berlin from 1937 to 1941 . From 1947 to 1959 she worked as editor of the trade journal "Der Betriebs-Berater " and as editor of a publishing company in Heidelberg.

In the summer semester of 1951, Marie-Luise Hilger was given a teaching position for labor law at Heidelberg University for the first time . In 1959 she completed her habilitation with the venia legendi for civil law and labor law. From the winter semester 1962/63 she was an honorary professor at the law faculty of the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . From 1960 to 1972 she was a member of the permanent deputation of the German Lawyers Association .

In 1959, Hilger was one of the first women to be appointed judge at a federal supreme court of law (still a federal judge at the time ). This was followed in 1973 by the appointment of presiding judge at the Federal Labor Court. In this role she took up to its entry into the retirement to chair the 5th Senate of the Federal Labor Court, which essentially questions the continuation of payment of the parental leave , the maternity leave was and the labor contract law jurisdiction.

Honors

In 1969 Ms. Hilger was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany , commonly known as the Federal Cross of Merit . In 1980, the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit was awarded.
