Life

Marie-Victoire de Noailles was the eighth daughter of twenty children of Marshal of France Anne Jules de Noailles, 2nd Duke of Noailles (1650-1708) and his wife Marie Françoise de Bournonville (1656-1748) from the House of Bournonville . Her childhood revolved around perfect behavior and social representation. Marie-Victoire received a good education in singing , dance , conversation , geography , history , mathematics , languages , painting and drawing lessons for her time .

In 1707 Marie-Victoire de Noailles married in Passy near Paris the aristocrat Louis de Pardaillan, Marquis of Gondrin (1689-1712), second son of Louis Antoine Pardaillan, 1st Duke of Antin. Two sons emerged from the joint relationship:

  1. Louis de Pardaillan de Gondrin (1707–1743), 2nd Duke of Antin ⚭ 1725 Françoise Gillonne de Montmorency (1704–1768)
  2. Antoine François de Pardaillan de Gondrin (1709–1741), Marquis of Gondrin.

Her second marriage was in 1723 in the Palace of Versailles, the Prince of Blood Louis Alexandre de Bourbon, Count of Toulouse (1678–1737), later legitimized son of the French King Louis XIV and his long-time mistress Madame de Montespan . The marriage, which all reports said was a happy one, produced a son:

  1. Louis Jean Marie de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre (1725–1793) ⚭ 1744 Maria Teresa Felicita d'Este of Modena

Marie-Victoire had a warm friendship with her father-in-law. After the death of her second husband, she slowly withdrew from court life and lived alternately at the Château de Rambouillet and the Hôtel de Toulouse , a town house in Paris.
