Live and act
Little is known about Marie Biberhofer's early years in her hometown of Linz. She was the daughter of a hotelier ("Zum Goldenen Schiff") and married a Klagenfurt merchant.
The 30-year-old artist made her debut as Marietta Müller in a production by the later Casablanca director Michael Curtiz and called herself Marietta Millner from the following year 1926, when she played alongside Pat & Patachon . In 1926 she went to Berlin , but followed the director Georg Jacoby only a few months later when he set off on a multi-month film trip to North America and East Asia . The result of this expedition were three films. Mariette Millner stayed in the US and received a film contract for four films from Paramount Pictures . She played the leading female role in three of these little-known films.
In 1928 Marietta Millner returned to Germany and continued her film work in Berlin. After shooting her last film, Wilhelm Thieles Adieu, Mascotte , in March 1929 , she went on a strict diet. As the Linzer Tages-Post reported on June 28, 1929, Marietta Millner died of a hemorrhage on June 27, 1929 in Baden near Vienna as a result of a lung disease, which is said to have worsened as a result of this diet .
