Marija Igorewna Guschtschina ( Russian Мария Игоревна Гущина ; born October 10, 1989 in Nizhny Tagil ) is a Russian cross-country skier .

Career

Gushchina competed in the Eastern Europe Cup until 2011 . She reached six podium finishes, including two wins, and finished fourth in the overall standings in the 2010/11 season. She ran her first World Cup race in January 2011 in Otepää , which she finished classically with 28th place over 10 km and won her first World Cup points. A week later she was able to win silver over 10 km freestyle at the U23 World Championships 2011 in Otepää. She finished the 2011/12 Tour de Ski in 38th place. At the U23 World Championships 2012 in Erzurum , she won gold over 10 km classic. At the Russian cross-country skiing championships in 2012 in Tyumen , she won silver in the 15 km skiathlon . Her greatest success so far was at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2013 in Val di Fiemme . There she reached the 13th place in the skiathlon and won bronze with the relay. At the Russian cross-country skiing championships in 2013 in Syktyvkar , she won gold in the 10 km freestyle. She finished the Tour de Ski 2013/14 in 37th place. At the Russian cross-country skiing championships in 2014 in Tyumen, she won gold in the 30 km mass start race and silver in skiathlon. In the 2016/17 season she came 26th in the Tour de Ski 2016/17 and was third over 10 km freestyle at the Russian championships in Khanty-Mansiysk . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 2017 , she came in 20th place over 10 km classic.
