Marina Kovačec (born July 2, 1987 in Zagreb ) is a Croatian biathlete .

The student Marina Kovačec from the Sestine Zagreb association is trained by the former biathlete Tina Cvorig. She has been running biathlon since 2003 and has been a member of the Croatian national team since then. In the same year she contested her first races as part of the Junior European Cup in Ridanna . In 2004 she started for the first time at the Junior World Championships in Haute-Maurienne . There, rank 52 in the pursuit was her best result. For the second time she started at a Junior World Championship in Presque Isle in 2006 and was 44th in the singles and ninth in relay. Kovačec achieved similar placements at the European Junior Championships of the year in Langdorf . The Junior World Championships 2007 in Martell and 2008 in Ruhpolding did not bring any improvements. With 26th place in individual and sprint as well as 22nd in the pursuit, the young Croatian achieved quite good results at the Junior European Championships 2007 in Bansko , as well as 27th in the pursuit of Nové Město na Moravě in 2008. Until 2007, she continued to compete of the Junior European Cup. In 2005, a 22nd place in a sprint race in Obertilliach was the best result.

Since 2007, Kovačec has also competed with adults. She made her debut in the European Biathlon Cup in 2007 in a sprint in Ridnaun, where she was 18th, in the pursuit that followed she was able to improve by one place. The Croatian achieved even better results as seventh in the sprint and eighth in the pursuit in the same year in Bansko, albeit in a poorly filled European Cup. The high point in Kovačec's young career so far is the start of two races at the 2008 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund . She finished 84th in the individual and 92nd in the sprint.
