Mario Kirew ( Bulgarian Марио Кирев ; born August 15, 1989 in Dupnitsa ) is a Bulgarian football goalkeeper .

Career

In the club

Mario Kirew started his career at FC Germanea in Saparewa Banja . At the age of 14, he moved to the youth department of Slavia Sofia , where he signed his first professional contract in August 2007. His debut in the A Grupa , the highest Bulgarian league, gave Kirew on April 25, 2008 in the game against Spartak Varna . In the first half of the following season he was a regular goalkeeper at Slavia Sofia.

In December 2008, Mario Kirew took part in a trial training session at Juventus Turin and signed a four-year contract with the Italian record champions on January 22, 2009 . In addition to Juventus, Manchester City , Getafe FC and Hamburger SV were also interested in the young goalkeeper. Juventus loaned him to the Swiss club Grasshopper Zurich until the end of the season , where he was not used because he had not received a work permit.

After Kirew had won the prestigious Torneo di Viareggio with Juve's youth team Primavera , he was loaned out again to Switzerland in February 2010, this time to FC Thun in the Challenge League . After his return he was not used in Turin in the 2010/11 season. In the summer of 2011 he was loaned to FC Timișoara in the Romanian League II for a year . With his new club, he took first place at the end of the 2011/12 season , but was not allowed to rise due to tax debts. Then it undertook Timişoara's successor club ACS Poli Timişoara, with his end of the 2012/13 season in the Liga 1 climb. There he came in the 2013/14 season as number three behind Nuno Claro and Eduard Pap only for one use. After the relegation of Polis to FC Olt Slatina in the Liga II, he dissolved his contract at the end of August 2014. In early 2015 he returned to Slavia Sofia. He was able to prevail over Emil Petrow and became number one in goal. In the 2015/16 season he was initially able to defend his status. At the beginning of December 2015 he lost his place on the team to his deputy Georgi Petkow . At the end of the season, he and his club qualified for the Europa League . At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he was again number one between the posts.

In the national team

Mario Kirew made his debut in August 2008 for the Bulgarian U-21 national team , for which he has played four games so far.
