Mark Andrews (director)

Mark Andrews (born September 12, 1968 in Los Angeles ) is an American film director and animator .

Life

Andrews studied animation at CalArts . He then created several animated films for television and was involved in the television series The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest and films such as The Giant from Space . He joined Pixar in 2000 and worked on films such as The Incredibles and Cars . He first directed with Andrew Jimenez in 2005. For their animated short, One Man Band , they both received an Oscar nomination in 2006 in the Best Animated Short Film category . Pixar's decision to hand Brenda Chapman's film Merida - Legend of the Highlands, which he began in 2006, to Andrews for completion in 2010 caused a sensation due to artistic differences. It was the first time Andrews directed an animated feature film. He made some serious changes to the film, so Merida was originally supposed to play in snowy Scotland. Andrews and Chapman won in 2013 for Merida an Oscar in the category Best Animated Feature and received in the same year , along with Steve Purcell the Golden Globe for best animated film .

Andrews is married with one daughter and three sons.
