Career

In 1973 he started at USA championships for the first time and finished 4th in the middle heavyweight division (up to 90 kg body weight at that time). Later he grew into the 1st heavyweight (then up to 100 kg body weight) and the 2nd heavyweight (then up to 110 kg body weight). Between 1975 and 1980 he won the USA championship six times. His best result at world championships was 4th place in 1977 in Stuttgart . At this World Cup he also won a bronze medal in pushing. 1976 was a low point in his career when he had to be disqualified for doping at the Olympic Games in Montreal .

Mark Cameron is now a coach in Pittsburgh , where he also trains his son Matt.
