Mark Hylton (born May 30, 1966 ) is an English dart player who is currently under contract with the PDC .

Career

Beginnings at BDO

Hylton has played darts for over 30 years and has long played in the Super League , where he made more than 80 appearances for Staffordshire .

In 1997 he reached the round of 16 of the first British Classic , in which he lost to Phil Taylor . In 2005 he qualified Staffordshire for the World Championship qualification , for the Winmau World Masters and for the English National Championships, where he again reached the round of 16.

Hylton made his first appearance in front of running cameras as an amateur qualifier at the 2007 UK Open . In the preliminary round he beat Ray Carver and lost to Mark Robinson .

Career with the PDC

In 2010 he joined the PDC. Although he could not qualify for the UK Open 2010 , he reached the final of the PDC Pro Tour Event Australia , where he lost to Dennis Priestley in the round of 16. In addition to his efforts at the PDC, he won 13 open tournaments, including the Border Classis .

He was also able to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts 2010 when he prevailed against a field of over 250 dart players and won one of four wild carts. In the Grand Slam, however, he lost all three group games against Gary Anderson , Mark Webster and Wayne Jones .

In 2011 he was allowed to take part in the PDC World Championship for the first time as one of the 16 best players who were not seeded. In the first round he beat Steve Beaton 3-2 and in the second round he also beat former world number one Colin Lloyd 4-2. In the second round, however, he was defeated 1-4 by Mark Webster . Because of this strength at the World Cup and his good second half of the season, he was awarded the title PDC New Player of the Year Award 2011 .

Hylton worked as a flight attendant for 14 years before he decided to become a professional darts player in 2010.
