The Markgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium (MLG) is a high school in Baden-Baden that was founded on January 5, 1892. It is one of four grammar schools in the center of Baden-Baden.
history
The Markgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium got its name in 1949 and was originally intended as a secondary school exclusively for boys; however, in 1919 it employed the first female teacher to teach 20 girls. Under the dictatorship of Adolf Hitler , it was named Graf Zeppelin School . After the Second World War, the Lycée Charles de Gaulle à Baden-Baden was set up by the French occupying power in the premises of the Markgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium , but in 1954 the French cleared the building.
In 1974 the grammar school received a new school wing for the natural sciences . Over the years a language laboratory , two IT rooms, a technical room and a gymnasium were added.
Since 2001, a solar system on the roof of the science school wing has been used to generate electricity. The electricity is primarily used in the school building, but excess electricity is fed into the general electricity grid.
In the course of 2006 the Markgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium introduced a quality management system and in 2007 was the first state-run high school in Germany to be certified according to DIN EN ISO 9001/2000 .
After disagreements with the teaching staff and an initiative of the parents 'council, in which 42 of 44 parents' representatives had requested their replacement, the then headmistress was released from her position at her own request in February 2011 after talks with the Karlsruhe regional council.
