Marc Marshall (* 28 July 1963 as Marc Robert Hilger in Baden-Baden ) is a German singer and entertainer in the field of jazz , pop and classical music .

Career

Marc Marshall was born in 1963 in Baden-Baden as the son of entertainer Tony Marshall . In 1970 he toured German clubs in the USA with his father. On April 24, 1971, he and his father stood on stage for the first time in the Kurhaus Baden-Baden . Marshall studied jazz in Los Angeles , among other things , and also devoted himself to classical music. He graduated as a baritone from the Karlsruhe University of Music . On the occasion of a local operetta production, he met Jay Alexander in 1993. In 1997 Marshall & Alexander began a singing career together as a duo . Since then they have recorded several albums and DVDs in the field of classical pop and organized several concert tours. In the summer of 2017, Marshall & Alexander celebrated their 20th anniversary with three anniversary concerts on the open-air stage in Ötigheim .

However, Marshall continued to appear as a soloist , including with Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli . He moderated the program “ Wundervolle Weihnachtswelt” , from May 2007 to May 2010 the SWR TV program Fröhlicher Weinberg and a total of four times the program “ Chorfest bei HR”. Since 2008, Marshall has organized the annual Mr. M's Jazz Club festival in cooperation with Baden-Baden Events and brings jazz greats such as Patti Austin , Rolf Kühn , Nils Landgren , Roger Cicero , Take 6 , Till Brönner , Curtis Stigers and Paul Kuhn to the Kurhaus Baden -To bathe. In addition to his singing career, Marc Marshall was also active as a producer and composer. The song Hand In Hand is DHL's official anthem. He wrote the song A song for Harry for his friend Harry Belafonte .

Private

Marc Marshall still lives in Baden-Baden, where he was born. He was married from 1983 to 2003 and has two children from this marriage. Marc Marshall has a brother, Pascal (* 1967), and a sister, Stella (* 1979). Pascal and Marc have been on stage together since they were children. His sister Stella has suffered from infantile cerebral palsy and epilepsy since she was born due to a medical malpractice during an amniocentesis . In addition to his social commitment in the Tony Marshall Foundation , which she and his father founded in December 1999, he is also the ambassador of the Kinderlachen eV association
