Marshall & Alexander are a German singing duo in the field of classical and pop. It consists of the baritone Marc Marshall (* 1963) and the tenor Jay Alexander (* 1971).

Life

Marc Marshall , born in 1963 as the son of pop singer Tony Marshall , grew up in Baden-Baden. At the age of seven he and his father stood on a stage in Baden-Baden for the first time. Later he took on a joint title "Father and Son" with his father, with which he also appeared several times on television. After school, Marshall studied guitar in Los Angeles ,among other things, and also devoted himself to classical music. He has a degree as a baritone at the Karlsruhe University of Music . On the occasion of an opera performance there, he met Jay Alexander in 1998. He was supposed to produce the first solo recording for him, but nothing came of it. Marshall and Alexander got together and it was their first joint music production. Marshall also had several appearances as a soloist, among others with Aretha Franklin and Andrea Bocelli . He moderated the show “ Wonderful Christmas World” and, from May 2007 to May 2010, the SWR TV show Fröhlicher Weinberg .

Jay Alexander , born in 1971 as Jochen Alexander Pfitzenmeier, grew up with a sister in Neulingen near Pforzheim . During his childhood he learnedto play the trumpet and played in the fire brigade band. After school he trained as an offset printer . He also took singing lessons, among others with Christa Lehnert in Karlsruhe. At the age of 21 he wona scholarship at the University of Music in Karlsruhein a singing competition at the Leipzig Opera . In 1993 he gave up his job as an offset printer and devoted himself entirely to music. In the mid-1990s, Alexander took part in several opera performances at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, including Verdi's “Rigoletto”, Mozart's “Magic Flute”, Smetana's “The Bartered Bride” and Nicolai's “The Merry Wives of Windsor”.

Joint career

In 1998 Marshall and Alexander began a singing career together as a duo . Since then they have recorded several albums and DVDs in the field of classical pop and organized several concert tours. The duo is also involved in the social field, especially for people in Welthungerhilfe's refugee camps . In 2005 the duo traveled to Sudan, among others .

On September 27, 2006 a tour began in Cologne , which has taken the duo to over 100 cities. On November 3rd, 2006 Marshall & Alexander published their first Christmas album with the most famous German Christmas carols, interpreted together with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg and the Gewandhaus Children's Choir .
