Jay Alexander
Jay Alexander (* 1. August 1971 as Jochen Alexander Pfitzenmeier in Pforzheim ) is a German opera singer ( tenor ) in the fields of classical, pop and crossover .
life and career
Jay Alexander was born into a musical family as the son of Margrit and Friedemann Pfitzenmeier. He grew up with his sister Christina (* 1965, now a musicologist) in the Enzkreis . Jay Alexander's musical talent was already evident at the age of three when he could easily hold his voice while singing four-part canons with his parents and sister. As a teenager he played the French horn in the trombone choir and music association and received his first singing lessons at the age of 16.
He completed his studies at the Musikhochschule Karlsruhe in 1997 as a state-certified opera singer and vocal teacher . He got to know Marc Marshall in 1993 during an operetta production there. The two singers started their singing careers in 1997 as Marshall & Alexander . The duo recorded numerous albums and DVDs in the field of classical pop and received gold records and awards such as the New Faces Award and the " Golden Hen ". In the summer of 2017, Marshall & Alexander celebrated their 20th anniversary with three big anniversary concerts on the Ötigheim open-air stage .
Jay Alexander also gives numerous concerts as a soloist and has appeared on stage with José Carreras , among others . Two of his six solo albums, "Geh aus, mein Herz" and "Schön ist die Welt", landed at number 1 in the German classical music charts and stayed there for several months. Jay Alexander is the producer of his albums "Heimat" and "Ein Stern geht auf", as well as the composer of the song "Passione (Jays song)" on the album Passione by Marshall & Alexander.
Private
He has two children with his wife Vanessa and lives in the Enzkreis. Since the summer of 2013 he has been the official ambassador of the Lebensweg family hostel , a recreation facility for families with severely and severely ill children in Illingen - Schützingen .
In the ZDF program Bares for Rares on July 24, 2020, he sold a funeral carriage that he bought from a farmer and partially restored himself. The buyer was Daniel Meyer .
