Markku Peltola

Markku Juhani Peltola (born July 12, 1956 in Helsinki , † December 31, 2007 in Kangasala ) was a Finnish actor and musician .

life and career

Peltola was known to the international film audience primarily from films by the Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki . He played the leading role in his film The Man Without a Past (2002) and a supporting role in Clouds Move Over (1996).

Peltola was also active as a musician. In the 1980s he appeared as a singer and guitarist with the group Motelli Skronkle , in 2004 and 2006 he released two solo albums. One of his last cultural tasks was to set up the Telakka theater restaurant in Tampere as a cultural center; shortly before his death he was still directing there.

Markku Peltola died in late 2007 after a serious illness at the age of 51.
