Marko Baša [ markɔ baʃa ] ( Serbian - Cyrillic Марко Баша ; born December 29, 1982 in Trstenik ) is a former Montenegrin football player who also has Serbian nationality.

Club career

Baša started his career at Prva petoletka Trstenik in his hometown. From the fourth division Baša moved to the OFK Belgrade in the first division for the 2000/01 season . In the 2001/02 season he was loaned to FK Banat Zrenjanin before returning to OFK Belgrade. For the 2005/06 season Baša moved to France for UC Le Mans . Here he was team captain at the end of his time in the club . In the summer of 2008 he switched to Lokomotiv Moscow , after being courted by Borussia Dortmund for a long time .

National team

Baša took part in the 2004 Olympic Games with the selection of Serbia and Montenegro . On November 16, 2005 played his first of three A-internationals for the selection of Serbia and Montenegro .

After the independence of Montenegro, since his father is Montenegrin, Baša had the option of choosing one of the two nationalities. On August 16, 2006 he was called up for a game against the Czech Republic in the Serbian squad, but did not appear, probably because of an injury.

In March 2007, the Montenegrin press reported that Baša had chosen Montenegro's choice . In their first international match on March 24, 2007, he did not appear. In May, he did not respond to Montenegro's officials who wanted to appoint him to the squad for the Kirin Cup . Since Marko Baša also did not accept an invitation for a friendly match between Montenegro on August 22nd against Slovenia , national coach Zoran Filipović announced that he would not send him any further invitations. In March 2009, however, the player was called up again, whereupon he made his national team debut against Italy on March 28 .
