The market street 4 is a Grade II listed property in the town of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

It is located in the historic old town of Quedlinburg, north of the city's market square. The house is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is listed in the Quedlinburg Monument Register as a merchant's farm. The building, which is also listed, is adjacent to Marktstrasse 3 to the south .

Architecture and history

What is remarkable about the property is the preserved half-timbered buildings on the courtyard side . It stretches to the west in the direction of Weingarten Street. Possibly the development marks the course of a former alley.

The oldest building borders the street-side house to the west and dates from around 1550. The facade is decorated with barrel-shaped beam heads , ship throats and fan rosettes . However, the building was partially redesigned, the ground floor is a massive construction. To the west is an extension from the same period. This is followed by two buildings from around 1800 and the second half of the 19th century. There is another half-timbered house on the south side of the courtyard. It was built in the 18th century and contains a forge.
