Markus Draper
Markus Draper (* 1969 as Markus Richter in Görlitz ) is a contemporary German artist .
life and work
From 1991 to 1996 Draper studied painting at the University of Fine Arts in Dresden , from 1998 to 2000 as a master class student with Professor Ralf Kerbach . Draper goes beyond painting on canvas . He uses various media to process everyday visual material that he takes from print media or television. "In the process of change [his works] experience a new aesthetic between reality and abstraction."
In the painting cycle “Demotape” (2013) as well as in the extensive installations “Rentfort Nord” (2011) and “Inge zu Fuß zur Arbeit” (2015), Draper reflects on defining events in recent German history such as the Leipzig Monday demonstration of October 9, 1989 , the The hostage-taking of Gladbeck or the admission of RAF dropouts in the GDR .
Works by Draper can be found in the New Masters Gallery of the Dresden State Art Collections in the Albertinum and in the Berlinische Galerie , State Museum for Modern Art, Photography and Architecture, Berlin.
