Markus Falkenstein (born August 16, 1965 ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
In his youth, Falkenstein played for Rot-Weiß Oberhausen , MSV Duisburg and SG Wattenscheid 09 . At the age of 19, he made the leap into the professional squad at SG. For the team from Lohrheide he played from 1984 to 1988 in the 2nd Bundesliga . After a year-long stint at Union Solingen , he moved to the amateurs of Bayer 04 Leverkusen . For the 1992/93 season he moved to his home club Rot-Weiß Oberhausen in the Association League Niederrhein . With RWO he made it to the Oberliga Nordrhein . A year later he went to Hamborn 07 . With the Duisburgers he also played another year in the league.
National team
Falkenstein played nine times for the German youth national team.
Others
After his career as a footballer, Falkenstein successfully trained various youth teams at SV Schermbeck for many years . In 2012 he took over the U17s of the upper division VfL Rhede .
