Markus Götz (composer)

Markus Götz (born May 19, 1973 in Schopfheim ) is a German composer , musician and teacher .

Life

Markus Götz grew up in his hometown and attended the local Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium . He took trumpet lessons at the music school and played in several clubs and orchestras. After graduating from high school, he studied musicology , history and philosophy at the Albert Ludwig University in Freiburg im Breisgau . At the rock school there, he also had lessons with the American jazz trumpeter Gary Barone . Götz studied school music in Basel and attended various arranging and composition courses.

Markus Götz works as a teacher in Riehen . He also teaches at the Mittleres Wiesental music school , conducts several orchestras and plays the trumpet and flugelhorn in various jazz bands.

Even as a schoolboy, Götz composed his first pieces that were performed by brass bands in his home country. Götz became known to a broader audience with his musicals "Piraten, Piraten", "Johannes - The Voice from the Desert" or "Canterville", which have already been shown several times under his direction as school performances and which have proven his qualifications as a school musician. His numerous compositions and arrangements, published in cooperation with the Rundel music publisher, are played by orchestras at home and abroad.
