Markus Linden (* 1973 in Cochem ) is a German political scientist . He is a private lecturer at the University of Trier .

Life

Linden studied political science and public law at the University of Trier (MA) from 1993 to 2000 . After that, he was a research assistant and was 2005 Winfried Thaa and Hans-Joachim Veen with the thesis Political Integration in a united Germany to Dr. phil. ( summa cum laude ) doctorate.

In 2007, his work was awarded the University Prize. From 2006 to 2012 he was a research assistant at the Collaborative Research Center 600 “Foreignness and Poverty” at the University of Trier. In 2011 he represented the professorship for political theory and the history of ideas. In 2013 he became the coordinator of the research initiative “Participation and Inequality” at the Research Center Europe (FZE). In 2014 he completed his habilitation with the thesis Inclusion and Exclusion through Representation. Theory and empiricism using the example of German integration policy , which was assessed by Winfried Thaa , Joachim Schild and Lutz Raphael . Since then he has been a private lecturer . His main research interests are democracy theory , party research and integration politics .

In the 2015 summer semester he received a visiting professorship at the University of Bologna .

In addition to several books, Linden has published articles in anthologies and specialist journals etc. a. International Politics , Research Journal Social Movements , Journal for Parliamentary Issues and Journal for Political Science . In addition, articles appeared in various daily newspapers such as taz, FAZ and NZZ, in political magazines such as Neue Gesellschaft / Frankfurter Hefte , Vorgangs and Die Politische Demokratie and on online portals such as The European and The Huffington Post .
