Markus Teichert

Markus Manfred Teichert (born November 9, 1970 in Mainz ) is a German table tennis player and A-license trainer.

Life

Teichert was brought to play table tennis by his father Manfred Teichert, who at the time was a department head at TTV Nierstein and also a class leader in the second Bundesliga. This is how Markus Teichert began his table tennis career at TTV Nierstein. At the age of twelve he was placed in the men's team and played successfully in the Association League, Rhineland-Palatinate League, Regionalliga and finally in the Second Bundesliga . He further developed his skills by attending the sports boarding school Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern.

In 1984 and 1985 he was together with Christian Dreher German master in student doubles; he also became a member of the German national youth team. He took part in a total of three European Youth Championships. With the youth national team, he won the silver and bronze medals once.

In 1985 he qualified for the first time for the German men's championships , in which he participated at least 15 times. He made it to the quarterfinals four times.

In 1988 he won the title at the German youth championships in a double with Peter Franz in Hanau . A year later he became South German individual champion, in 1990 and 1995 Württemberg champion. He was also several times South German Champion in singles and mixed with Alexandra Schankula (née Urban) .

In 1988 he received his first professional contract from the Bundesliga club SSV Reutlingen . He played for Reutlingen until 1992. This was followed by the clubs TTF Ochsenhausen (1992–1994; 2. and 1. BL), TSV Maxell Sontheim (1994–1999; 1. and 2. BL, ETTU Cup ), SV Plüderhausen (1999– 2000) and TTC Frickenhausen (2000-2004). He mainly played on the front couple cross. In 2004 he returned to SSV Reutlingen in the association class.

He has been playing in the association league at TTC Mühringen since 2017.

He is a travel agent by profession. Teichert is married. Has 3 birth children and 2 stepchildren.
