The nature reserve Marschallshagen and Nonnenholz with upper Altenautal is located in the area of ​​the city of Lichtenau in the Paderborn district in North Rhine-Westphalia . It is the largest nature reserve in the district.

The area extends south of the core town of Lichtenau and north of Blankenrode , the southernmost district of Lichtenau. The state road L 817 runs along the north-western edge and to the west, the L 744 to the west and the A 33 to the south .
