Marshall Herskovitz

Marshall Herskovitz (born February 23, 1952 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American film producer , screenwriter and director.

Life

Herskovitz graduated from Brandeis University and then moved to the American Film Institute . Here he met Edward Zwick in 1975 . Since then, the two have had a partnership that continues to this day. So the two u. a. the television series The Best Years (1987–1991) and Again with Feeling (1999–2002). The two also worked together on numerous film projects. In 1985 they founded The Bedford Falls Company, their own production company. Their first cooperation was the television film Special Bulletin from 1983, for which the two also won an Emmy .

Herskovitz made his debut as a director with the production of two episodes of the series An American Family in 1979/1980. He was also a producer and screenwriter involved in this series. In 1993, Mein Vater - Mein Freund was his first feature film. Further directorial work followed, especially for various television projects.

In 2001 he was nominated together with Laura Bickford and Edward Zwick for Traffic - Power of the Cartel for an Oscar in the category Best Picture . In 2006 the American Film Institute presented him with the Franklin J. Schaffner Award. In 1983, 1988 and 2001 he was each awarded a Humanitas Prize . He was also able to win several Emmys.

Herskovitz has two children.
