Martin Oro

Martín Oro (born in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine-Swiss singer and countertenor .

life and work

Oro comes from an Italian family of musicians. He made his first singing experiences in the children's choir of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, he also played the viola and studied with Juri Bashmet in Moscow . After completing his diplomas in Friborg and Neuchâtel , Oro was admitted to the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis for postgraduate studies, which he completed with the highest distinction.

Oro has specialized in operas, oratorios and cantatas of early music and sang under the direction of Marc Minkowski , Jordi Savall , Philippe Herreweghe , Joshua Rifkin , René Jacobs , Helmuth Rilling , Markus Teutschbein and Chiara Banchini . He also worked with the singers Cecilia Bartoli , Emma Kirkby , María Bayo and Jennifer Larmore .

Oro regularly gives chamber music performances with the lutenist Mónica Pustilnik and the pianist José Gallardo .

In addition to numerous CD recordings with various of the above-mentioned musicians, he worked on a DVD recording of "Il Ritorno d 'Ulisse in Patria" by Claudio Monteverdi under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt .
