Martha Higareda
Martha Elba Higareda Cervantes ( Spanish pronunciation [ˈmarta iɣaˈɾeða], born August 24, 1983 in Villahermosa , Tabasco ) is a Mexican actress , screenwriter and producer . She became known to a wide audience through the role of the police officer Kristin Ortega in the series Altered Carbon - The Immortality Program .
Life
Higareda is the daughter of actress Martha Cervantes and artist and therapist Jose Luis Higareda. Her sister Miriam is also an actress. Martha Higareda began acting at a young age and moved to Mexico City at the age of 14 , where she began acting. While pursuing her acting career, she studied communications at college . In 2002 she changed her major to "acting". She made her television debut in the Disney Channel production Zapping Zone .
She was supposed to get a role in Alfonso Cuarón's film Y Tu Mamá También - Lust for Life in 2001 . However, because she was still a minor at the time and was supposed to play a nude scene, she was out of the question. In 2002 she played her first leading role in Amarte Duele , a film by Fernando Sariñana . Her first role in a US production was in the horror film Borderland (2007) directed by Zev Berman .
Several leading and supporting roles followed in various film productions. Higareda is the main cast of season 1 in the 2018 Netflix series Altered Carbon . She embodied the role of the policewoman Kristin Ortega.
