Martin Apeltauer

Martin Apeltauer (born March 26, 1965 in Linz , † November 15, 2006 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Apeltauer was a member of the Salzburg state parliament .

Apeltauer was born into a family of railway workers and studied German at the University of Salzburg . He was involved in the Austrian student body and rose to the position of ÖH chairman of the University of Salzburg. Apeltauer was the first social democratic chairman of the Salzburg ÖH.

After completing his studies, Apeltauer worked from 1995 as a secretary for the Deputy Governor Gerhard Buchleitner (SPÖ). In 2001 he became managing director of the SPÖ Salzburg and from 2004 was a member of the state parliament. Apeltauer was culture spokesman for the SPÖ state parliament club.

Apeltauer committed suicide on November 15, 2006, leaving behind a wife and a child. He was followed by Roland Meisl as a member of the state parliament. In an obituary, Apeltauer was described as one of the most important architects by Governor Burgstaller's victory in the 2004 state elections . He was also an expert on culture and education and worked as a strategist in the background.
