Martin Beheim (baptized July 31, 1572 in Nuremberg ; buried February 18, 1623 there ) was a flat and etching painter in Nuremberg.

Life

Martin Beheim was the son of the painter Hieronymus Beheim the Younger (1538–1583) and his wife Anna (née Bock, * 1541). He was married twice, first to Magdalena (nee Rinckauer, approx. 1572–1596), with whom he had two sons who died, however, then to Catharina (nee Kautz, 1574–1632), this marriage remained childless. Since his father died when Beheim was still a child, Alexius Lindner became his guardian. From 1599 to 1603 he headed the guild of painters in Nuremberg. As a teacher he enjoyed a good reputation, and so Jobst Harrich , Jakob Stretz, Lienhard Brandmüller, Lienhard Pantzer, Hans Ammon, Adam Leibinger, Simon Zeiß and Hans Hieronymus Kohl were his apprentices from 1594 . From around 1612 he lived in the former Carthusian monastery , where Johann Weber, the stepfather of his wife Kastner, was. After his death in 1615 Beheim took over this office and the alms service. His wife married the painter Jacob Martin on September 24, 1623 after his death.

Nothing is known about his work.
