Martin Eberle (art historian)

Martin Eberle (* 1968 in Schrobenhausen ) is a German art historian .

He studied art history and history at the universities of Munich , Bamberg and Jena . He wrote his dissertation on the Viennese interior painter Franz Heinrich (1802–1890). Eberle worked at the Grassimuseum in Leipzig from 1996 to 1999 , after which he took over the management of the Gohliser Schlösschen in Leipzig. In 2003 he became director of the Braunschweig Municipal Museum .

On October 1, 2007, he was elected as the new director of the foundation by the foundation board of the Schloss Friedenstein foundation in Gotha . In this function he redesigned the Gotha palace and museum landscape as the "Baroque Universum Gotha". This master plan has been implemented continuously since 2009. In 2013 he was appointed honorary professor by the University of Erfurt .

Since May 1, 2018, he has been General Director of the Hessen Kassel Museums in Kassel.
