Martin Haag (politician, 1826)

Martin Haag (born November 11, 1826 in Heilbronn ; † May 7, 1899 there ) was a German wine grower and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Haag attended the city school in Heilbronn and became a wine grower there. Since January 1874 he was a member of the municipal council, municipal goods inspector, board member of the Weingärtner Association and member of the committee of the agricultural district association.

From 1893 to 1898 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Württemberg 3 ( Heilbronn , Besigheim , Brackenheim , Neckarsulm ) and the German People's Party . In the runoff election, with the help of the Social Democrats, he was able to prevail against Karl Mayer , the candidate of the national liberal German party .

Haag's son Wilhelm Haag entered the Württemberg state parliament in 1912 and was also a member of the Reichstag from 1920 to 1924. From 1924 to 1933 Martin Haag's grandson Heinrich Haag was a member of the Reichstag.
