Martin Kohlhaussen

Martin Kohlhaussen (born November 6, 1935 in Marburg an der Lahn ) is a German manager . From 1991 to 2001 he was Chairman of the Board of Management of Commerzbank AG and from 1997 to 2000 President of the Association of German Banks .

After finishing school with Abitur in 1955 at the High School in Hanau , Kohlhaussen studied law at the universities of Frankfurt am Main , Freiburg and Marburg from 1956 to 1960 . In 1960 he passed his legal state examination and the following year his legal clerkship . In 1965 he passed his second state examination, after which Kohlhaussen worked in the domestic banking business in Frankfurt am Main and Hanau, where he rose to branch manager until 1976. From 1976 he accompanied international branch managers in Tokyo and New York .

On January 1, 1982 Kohlhaussen was appointed to the board of Commerzbank AG . In this position he advanced to become a recognized expert on international finance. On May 29, 1991 he became Chairman of the Board of Management of Commerzbank AG in Frankfurt am Main.

However, from March 1997 to March 2000 he was the President of the Association of German Banks . On 14 January 1998, he was from the Technical University of Chemnitz , the honorary doctorate awarded.

From 1999 to 2000 Kohlhaussen was President of the International Monetary Conference (IMC). He held the position of Spokesman for the Board of Management at Commerzbank until May 25, 2001, before he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board .

Kohlhaussen is married and has three children. He is a member of the Marburg Wingolf .
