Martin Lundberg (born June 7, 1990 in Skellefteå ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Växjö Lakers Hockey in the Svenska Hockeyligan since the 2017/18 season .

Career

Martin Lundberg began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Skellefteå AIK , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division, in the 2007/08 season . In his rookie year , he prepared a goal in eleven games. In the following years the center was a regular at Skellefteå AIK, with whom he was runner- up in the 2010/11 season . In addition, he was selected in the second round of the KHL Junior Draft 2010 as the 45th player by SKA Saint Petersburg .

After the season 2015/16 and more than 500 games for Skellefteå AIK to Lundberg decided to move to America and signed a one year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League , but there he could not sit down and spent the entire season in the farm team of the Hawks, the Rockford IceHogs , in the American Hockey League . After only one season he moved back to Sweden to Växjö Lakers Hockey .

International

For Sweden , Lundberg took part in the U18 Junior World Championship in 2008 and the U20 Junior World Championship in 2010 . At the U20 World Cup in 2010, he and his team won the bronze medal. In the senior sector, he made his debut at the 2016 World Championships , where he finished sixth with the team.
