Martin Oestreich (born October 19, 1971 in Pforzheim ) is a German chemist and university professor at the TU Berlin .

Life

Oestreich studied chemistry at the University of Düsseldorf (1991–1993) and at the University of Marburg (1993–1996). His diploma thesis (1996) on the stereoselective boron-zinc exchange was supervised by Paul Knochel . Oestreich then completed his doctorate with a dissertation (1999) on stereoselective carbolithiation with Dieter Hoppe at the University of Münster . After postdoctoral research with Larry E. Overman at the University of California, Irvine (1999–2001), Oestreich completed his habilitation with Reinhard Brückner at the University of Freiburg (2001–2005). In 2006 he was appointed professor of organic chemistry to theUniversity of Münster before moving to the TU Berlin as Professor of Organic Chemistry / Synthesis and Catalysis in 2011 with an Einstein Professorship from the Einstein Foundation Berlin . Oestreich made guest residencies at Cardiff University , ANU and Kyoto University . His research focuses on basic synthetic and mechanistic aspects of organosilicon and organoboron chemistry.
