Martin Richter (history methodologist)

Martin Richter (born October 12, 1930 in Penig ) is a German history methodologist .

Life

After attending elementary and middle school (1937–1947), Martin Richter learned the profession of paper maker . From 1950 to 1957 he studied at the University of Leipzig and passed the state examination as a subject teacher for the upper level in history , then from 1957 to 1958 he was a history teacher at the middle school in Langenleuba-Oberhain in the Leipzig district . In 1958 he began working as a research assistant at the Historical Institute of the University of Greifswald , in the field of historical methodology . In addition to his teaching duties, he dealt with special problems of audiovisual communication in the subject of history - in accordance with the research focus of his academic field . He was permanently involved in the education and training of history teachers and was a member of the history expert commission of the Institute for Teaching Aids of the APW in the GDR . In 1963 he received his doctorate and in 1981 his habilitation . In 1987 he was appointed full professor. From his pen 288 specialist publications (partly together with specialist colleagues) emerged. From 1992 to 1994, Martin Richter was President of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Regional Home Association , and from 1994 to 2007 he was the editor in charge of the Heimathefte for Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania . He has been a pensioner since 1995.
