Martin Schön (born June 25, 1909 ; † unknown) was a German football player .

Career

Schön first played for FC Eintracht Leipzig before moving to VfB Leipzig in April 1932 . Since the club change did not go properly, Schön, like Breidenbach , was suspended for one year.

From 1933 to 1944 he was in the Gauliga Sachsen , in one of initially 16, later increased to 23 Gauligen at the time of National Socialism as a uniform top division in the German Reich . The last season before the end of World War II he played in Season 1 of the Leipzig group , one of four groups in the now divided Gauliga Sachsen. The best result was second place at the end of the 1938/39 season , one point behind Dresdner SC .

After VfB Leipzig was dissolved and expropriated by the Soviet occupying power in 1945, like all civil clubs, former VfB players founded the “SG Probstheida” on their old sports grounds, to which Schön belonged until 1947.

While he was a member of the club, he and the team took part in the competition for the Tschammer Cup, the cup competition for club teams introduced in 1935. In 1936 , with five goals in six games, he helped his team advance to the finals. He crowned his debut on June 14, 1936 in the 5-0 first round win against 1. SV Jena with his two goals, the 4-0 goals in the 81st and 5-0 in the 83rd minute.

Then he was used on August 23, 1936 in the necessary replay against Vorwärts-Rasensport Gleiwitz, won 3-0 , in which he scored a goal after the encounter in the 2nd final round on June 28, 1936 with the 2: 2 had not found a winner after extra time . He won the round of 16 with his team - as the only home team - 2-0 against Berliner SV 1892 . After he had also successfully contested the encounters with VfB Peine - against which he again scored two goals - and Wormatia Worms in the quarter and semi-finals with 4: 2 and 5: 1, he moved into the final with VfB Leipzig.

The final, which only took place on January 3, 1937 in the Berlin Olympic Stadium , took place against last year's finalists FC Schalke 04 with Fritz Szepan and Ernst Kuzorra in their ranks. It ended with 2: 1 for VfB Leipzig, with his teammates Jakob May and Herbert Gabriel giving their team the lead by scoring 1-0 in the 20th and 2-0 in the 31st minute; the Schalke Ernst Kalwitzki's goal in the 42nd minute was the only one in the remaining 48 minutes.
