Martin Schulz (born March 17, 1990 in Oschatz ) is a German triathlete , world and European champion and gold medalist in the sprint triathlon at the 2016 Paralympics .

Career

Martin Schulz was born with a missing left forearm. He came to swimming at the age of six and from there later to triathlon. At the age of 14 he went to the sports boarding school in Leipzig.

In 2013 he became European champion in the TRI-4 class in Turkey (starting class PT4: a supporting bracket on the bike and no other technical aids) and he was able to successfully defend this success five times in a row until 2016.

The athlete, who starts for the club SC DHfK Leipzig, was the first triathlete to achieve the hat-trick with gold at the World and European Championships as well as the Paralympics in 2016.

He is trained by Tom Kosmehl . After London 2012 this was his second participation in the Paralympics.

He completed two training courses, as an office clerk and a sports and fitness clerk.
