Martin Stachl

Martin Stachl (born November 8, 1914 in Munich , † 1997 in Braunau am Inn ) was a German - Austrian set designer and painter .

Training and work

Stachl graduated from the Munich State School for Applied Arts (Munich Art Academy) a. a. completed with honors at Emil Pretorius . On the recommendation of Pretorius, he was appointed as a set designer at the Stadttheater in Braunau and also presented the overall concept for the renovation of the Braunau Stadttheater, which were implemented in 1938 and 1939. He was hired as a set designer for stages in Tyrol and at the Linz State Theater. In addition to performing military service , he also worked as a painter. Pictures of him were shown in the art exhibition Künstler in Waffenrock in Potsdam and in an art exhibition in the Führergeburtshaus in Braunau in 1943 and he was on the Führer list of talented youngsters in German painting. In 1945 he spent several months as an American prisoner of war and then returned to his family in Braunau, where he resumed his work as a freelance artist. He was a member of the Innviertel Artists Guild and lived in Braunau am Inn until his death.
