Martin tom Dieck (born December 17, 1963 in Oldenburg ) is a German comic artist .

Life

From 1986 to 1992 he studied illustration at the Fachhochschule für Gestaltung in Hamburg , where he lives and works. His first publication was in 1993 with the volume The Innocent Passenger , which was created during his time as a city draftsman in Alsfeld . It is about a ship passenger who wants to suggest a different course to the captain, and wanders around the ship in search of him.

Since then Dieck has published avant-garde comics and illustrations for both German and French publishers, but also in magazines such as Strapazin and in various newspapers (including Süddeutsche Zeitung , Liberation and Die Zeit ). In 2000 he was one of the cartoonists in the international anthology Comix 2000 .

In 1994 and 2000 he received the Max and Moritz Prize at the Erlangen Comic Salon . In 2005 he won the Prix ​​de l'école supérieure de l'image at the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angoulême .

Since the winter semester 2009/10 he has been Professor of Illustration at the Folkwang University .

In 2010 Dieck was appointed by Federal Minister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble was appointed to the Art Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry of Finance for the 17th legislative period and advised the Ministry on the development and design of German postage stamps .
