Martina Wagner-Egelhaaf (born March 22, 1957 ) is a professor at the University of Münster and holds the chair for modern German literary history with a special focus on modern and contemporary literature . Her main research interests are autobiography / autofiction , literary theory , rhetoric , literary and cultural studies , gender studies , religion , politics and literature , law and literature.

Life

Martina Wagner-Egelhaaf studied German and history in Tübingen . In 1987 she received her doctorate from the University of Tübingen with a dissertation on the mysticism of modernity . From 1987 to 1994 Wagner Egelhaaf was Assistant Professor in the Section Literature at Konstanz University , where she in 1994 with a thesis on The Melancholy of literature at Gerhart of Graevenitz habilitated .

From 1995 to 1998 she was professor for modern German studies, especially literary theory and rhetoric at the Ruhr University in Bochum . Since 1998 she has been a professor for modern German literature at the University of Münster. She was visiting professor at the University of Washington in Seattle, at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, at Xi'an International Studies University, China and at the Mirzo Ulugbek National University in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

Martina Wagner-Egelhaaf is Principal Investigator in the Cluster of Excellence “Religion and Politics, Dynamics of Tradition and Innovation” and sub-project leader in the Collaborative Research Center 1385 “Law and Literature”. From 2004 to 2010 she was Senator of the German Research Foundation and from 2010 to 2019 a member of the Central Selection Committee of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation . Since 2020 she has been a member of the DFG Review Board 105 "Literary Studies". In 2014 Martina Wagner-Egelhaaf was accepted into the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences . Since 2018 she is a member of the University Council of the University of Muenster. She has also been a member of the International Committee of the International Association for German Studies (IVG) since 2010 .
