Mashhad-e-Ardehal ( Persian مشهد اردهال Mashhad-e-Ardehal , IPA : [ mæʃhæd ɛ æɾdɛhɑl ]) is a village 38 km west of Kashan . The village is located in a fairly arid area surrounded by mountains and hills. Because of this geographical position, its summers are temperate and its winters are very cold. The village is known for the Qalishuyan ceremony.

Most of the villagers are farmers . Their main agricultural products are wheat , barley , watermelon , cucumber , hazelnut and walnut . The most important crafts in the village are carpet and kilim . Although the quality of the Mashhad-e-Ardehal carpets is not as high as the quality of the Kashan and Djoshaghan Ghali carpets , they have beautiful patterns and fairly good quality.

There are two historical buildings near Mashhad-e-Ardehal, Imamzade Mohammad Oussat and Baba-Afsal-Mausoleum . Baba Afsal mausoleum is located in the village of Margh near Mashhad-e-Ardehal. Baba Afsal was the well-known Sufi of the 15th century.

etymology

Mashhad-e-Ardehal is located in an area that has been very sacred since ancient times. The ruins of a Sassanid fire temple and other sacred buildings on neighboring hills are evidence of this. The word Ardehal has its tribe from Pahlawi and means "sacred hill" ( Ard means "holy" and Hal means "hill"). This tribe also exists in the name of the city of Ardestan , which means "sacred area" or "holy land". In the 7th century after the murder of Soltan Ali , the son of the fifth Shiite imam , Muhammad ibn ʿAlī al-Bāqir , and his tomb in Ardehal, the village gained a special religious meaning for Shiites and the word Mashhad , which means "the place of martyrdom" means, was added to the name Ardehal.
