The Massane is a coastal river in the south of France that is only about 22 km long and runs in the Pyrénées-Orientales department in the Occitania region .

The Massane rises at a height of 968 m above sea level. d. M. on the north side of the Albères massif , the easternmost foothills of the Pyrenees . It flows through the municipalities of Argelès-sur-Mer and Sorède and flows south of Argelès-Plage into the Mediterranean . The Port Argelès marina is located in its estuary .

In summer the river often falls dry, but in autumn and winter floods are also possible after heavy rains. B. in November 1999, when the entire estuary was blocked by mud and debris.
