biography
Club career
Briaschi was appointed to the professional team of Lanerossi Vicenza at the age of 17 , after they had just been relegated to Serie B. In its first season at Vicenza, the team ended up in 16th place and almost relegated. But for next season was Paolo Rossi committed and this led Vicenza back into the Serie A return. Briaschi was in his first season in Serie A directly runner-up with Vicenza and thus took part in the UEFA Cup . There Vicenza played in the first round against FK Dukla Prague and was eliminated, but Briaschi at least scored a goal, which led to the interim equalization of the series (return leg). In the following season , Vincenza only just missed relegation and surprisingly rose again to Serie B because of the worse goal difference against FC Bologna . Then Briaschi was loaned to Cagliari Calcio the next season and thus initially continued to play in Serie A. But he only played seven times for Cagliari, scoring one goal, and went back to Vincenza after the season. Although he was the top scorer at Vincenza in the following season, he could not prevent the surprising relegation to Serie C. He did not get promoted in his last season for Vincenza, as the team was only third, one point behind AC Monza Brianza . Briaschi moved directly to Serie A at CFC Genoa after this season . In Genoa he was the team's most successful striker and attracted attention and was signed by Juventus Turin after just two seasons for Genoa . At Juventus Turin he met his old teammate Paolo Rossi, among others. His first season in Turin was very successful. Juventus was only sixth in the league, but was able to win the European Cup. The following year he became champions with Turin and also won the UEFA Super Cup and the World Cup . Briaschi could never really assert himself in the team and moved back to Genoa after another season in Turin. He completed three more modest seasons for CFC and then moved again for a short time to AC Prato in Serie C.
National team
Briaschi was never used for the senior Italian team. Nevertheless, he played four games for the U-21s . Furthermore, he belonged to the Italian selection at the Summer Olympics in 1984 , with which he could reach the semi-finals, in which the team lost to Brazil .
